Finding Courage to Live The Life You Choose
I first met Sophie at the end of one of my events in Vietnam. I don’t remember much of what we said, but I remember that she kept holding my hands and cried.
Sophie had just come back to Vietnam after spending most of her life in France, and like many other Viet Kieu, she was feeling lost.
She wanted to do something to inspire others and thought of hosting a show. Still, Sophie’s fears got the better of her.
I knew the best way for her to get out of this rut was not to sit at home analyzing herself but to get to action - any action.
So when she asked me to be the first guest on her show, despite my busy schedule, I said yes.
On the day of our interview, I arrived at the address she sent, not expecting much.
But I was surprised. Sophie arranged a proper room. There were professional camera and lighting equipment. She also brought 3 friends, one was a videographer, the other two were for emotional support.
Even though Sophie looked nervous, looking at her friends, I knew that this interview won’t be her last. (And I was not wrong. The show still continues until today.)
I was glad that Sophie asked for support early. Instead of thinking she had to do everything by herself, like many others.
We, humans, are social creatures. We thrive on togetherness.
At the beginning of a project, we need to ask ourselves: “Who do I want on my success team?”
At the beginning of a project, especially if it’s outside of our comfort zone, we need to ask ourselves: “Who do I want on my success team?” and “How can I assemble my success team?”
Back to the interview that day, what unfolded between us was a spontaneous, fun, open-hearted conversation.
What I appreciate about Sophie is that she was refreshingly curious and vulnerable.
A learner herself, she listened intently and asked many follow-up questions. This helped me to share at a much deeper level.
In the interview, I did a mini-coaching session with her live on the spot. Sophie was willing to open up about her dark moments and her private thoughts - which made the session very real.
Whether you’re lost without purpose or struggling with negative emotions, or wanting to be braver on the path you’ve chosen - this interview will help.
We covered a lot of ground. You’ll learn:
5:12 Why being resourceful s more important than having the resources
7:52 What is the one thing to pay attention to if you want to understand your purpose
8:39 What is emotional intelligence and how to gain it
14:43 How to break free from negative thoughts
19:14 Why procrastination doesn’t mean you’re lazy
20:02 How to go for your dream even if you’re afraid
23:03 The mindset that can hold you back from changing your life
24:48 How to talk to your parents about your dreams and what to do when they disagree

I hope this conversation fuels your courage to live the life you choose.
Remember: you’re a beautiful miracle and you can truly shine your light.
