How to Future-Proof Your Coaching Business Against “AI Pollution”

Every other bros on the internet is now insisting that AI is “the hero you’ve been waiting for!” who comes on a horse of 0s and 1s to rescue you from all business problems.

One dude keeps interrupting me with his ads mid-video every time I watch America’s Got Talent on YouTube (the audacity!!!)

“This AI tool can write the whole book for you and create the cover art in 5 minutes.”

WHAT? A WHOLE BOOK? AND COVER ART? WRITTEN BY AI? Ooh me gad… I’m sold #@%#&^!

Only that I am not.

The idea of an AI app plagiarizing other humans' creative work and then regurgitating it into a pile of unoriginal thoughts makes me sick.

When it comes to original creative work like writing, I believe the danger of using AI to our peril is real.

Now, I’m not against progress.

And if you've let ChatGPT write some of your social media captions, there's no judgment from me.

I’ve used AI tools to find research data (which you must doubt fact-check, by the way), fix grammar errors (which you also must not follow blindly; otherwise, it’ll erase your original voice), and suggest 10 tips for hosting a toddler's birthday on a budget.

Sure, I’d gladly have it run errands for me on the web’s streets, gathering the internet’s average best.

But when it comes to original creative work like writing, I believe the danger of using AI to our peril is real.

I've been so bothered by the hype of AI ever since it started. A few months ago, when I was in the shower, a term bubbled up in me: "AI Pollution."

Let me define:

noun: AI pollution

/ei · ai · pəˈl(j)uːʃn/

The overuse of AI in writing that atrophies one's thinking muscles, dilutes one's unique voice, and cripples one's thought leadership.

When I go to the supermarket, I much prefer - and will pay more - for organic, no artificial ingredient food.

Similarly, I much prefer - and will appreciate a coach more - for their original, no artificial-intelligence food for thoughts.

And that's why I've never let AI write my content.

I’ve seen more and more coaches asking themselves:

Why even bother writing content if AI can write a whole article in seconds?

My bold take: amid this AI Pollution*, writing original content is more important than ever before.

And here’s why:

👉Even though AI may have speed, it lacks the most crucial ingredient for building trust with your audience: your story.

👉AI doesn’t know your Dark Night of the Soul, your “Hell and Back” journey, your hidden shadows waiting to be brought into the light. And yet, those are the very things that turn casual viewers into loyal fans.

👉In the sea of sameness, when everyone sounds what AI makes them sound (a machine trying to be human), your unique voice will stand out and cut through the noise.

👉Writing helps you access the place where AI can never touch: your inner wisdom, your soul’s sacred truth, and the original and genius thoughts hidden in your subconscious mind.

👉Sitting down to write is equivalent to going to the gym to build your thought leadership muscles—which, like any muscle, will atrophy if not exercised. Writing is simply the best vehicle for clarifying thoughts, connecting the dots, and coming up with breakthroughs.

👉Blogging and longer-form writing have experienced a resurgence in recent years. Your audience is growing tired of 90-second reels and filter images. They’re yearning for more intimacy, honesty, and depth - something writing can create.

Finding your unique voice, telling compelling personal stories, and honing your thought leadership is how you future-proof your business against AI Pollution*.

I'll speak more about this in the coming articles, but now I want to offer you 3 questions to ponder:

  1. What is one story of how you overcame your ‘dark night of the soul’ that you’re still afraid of telling?

  2. What is the biggest piece of wisdom you gained from it?

  3. And what support do you need to share it courageously with your audience?

Ponder these questions over the coming days. Your answers to them might be the magnet to bring the next soulmate client to you.

So much love,

Milena xo

PS: On August 20th, 2014, I published my first blog article.

I often forget what it was about, and I think it wasn’t very good. But it was the start of my entire career.

Me 10 years ago at my writing desk

Over the last 10 years, I’ve explored different mediums, yet I’ve kept returning to writing to tell my story, grow my audience, and build my now multi-6-figure coaching business.

I’ve maintained an active blog and sent out regular email newsletters (you're reading one right now). I’ve also written 4 books, one of which was an instant Amazon Best New Release.

To celebrate 10 years of writing, I’m bringing back my signature writing course called Inspiring Writers Society™ (IWS) this August.

You’ll learn tried-and-true writing methods that you can use right away to craft stories that your readers can’t help but like, save, and share.

But more importantly, you’ll figure out exactly who you’re writing for, hone in on your unique messaging, and sharpen your thought leadership in your niche.

The end result: Watch both your authority and audience grow as you no longer remain a hidden gem.

Bonus: Your own private turf of potential clients who keep asking how they can work with you.

9 years, some major fumbles, 3 TEDx Talks, 1 published book, 50,000 followers, and hundreds of clients (from 15+ countries) later…

I make a multi-six-figure living as a coach while spending most of my time walking barefoot in my apartment. #introvertgoal

I’m here to help you turn that calling into a financially sustainable coaching business — while staying away from the hustle, and skipping the pitfalls that trip up most new coaches.
